literally drag the willing reader to the edge of his seat with intensity.
Doesn't have to be an end-of-the-world scene,
but it must keep you turning the pages.
It must keep you reading longer than you'd planned.
Staying up later than you should have.
To find the answer.
It can be as quiet as the soft cooing of a dove
or the plink of one drop of rain.
But it must build a questioning--a desire for answers--in the reader.

Well said. I hope to someday write a story that will keep the reader turning pages, staying up a little longer than she planned!
