On Passionate Writing

When I face the desolate impossibility of writing five hundred pages,

a sick sense of failure falls on me
and I know I can never do it.

This happens every time

Then gradually, I write one page, then another.
One day's work is all I can permit myself to contemplate,
and I eliminate the possibility of ever finishing.
--John Steinbeck

Do you ever face that impossibility?
Do you think you can not write those 320 pages?
Those 120 pages?

Is it all too much,
too overwhelming?
Too IMPOSSIBLE?

Then just write that one page.
That one scene.
That one chapter.

That's all.
Nothing more.

And tomorrow is a new day.

Write that one page.
That one scene.
That one chapter.

Pretty soon,
you will have written your book.
You will be able to write the words,
"The End"

Blessings!

How true, Carole. Discouragement has dogged my steps for a few months. This post encourages me: one word at a time.
