Serious Wednesday: Working Hard and Hardly Working

Some would call it Working hard; others might say,
hardly working. I say, both!

Mondays--after the weekend--is a day that usually ends up being closer to the "hardly working" sort of day. And though I felt as if I accomplished a little, it wasn't enough, at least according to my standards.

You see, I have a list: A chore and writing list. Some days it's longer than other days, but I almost always use it. I spread my chores, with possible length of times to complete each one. Interspersed between these chores, I have my writing chores/writing goals.

Here's how it looks:

Carole's Chore & Word Crawl

Wednesday, July 14, 2021

Rise, shower, dress, 30 mins:

Devotions, 30 mins:

Breakfast, 20 mins:

Exercise, 20 mins:

Open/delete email:

Soc Media (promotion), 1 hr:

Sweep, 20 mins:

Write 100 words:

transplant a flower, 20 mins:

Write 150 words:

(and more...)

Word count for the day:

Overall word count:

Now, I'm not saying you have to do it MY way, but I do recommend setting a positive and attainable schedule to your writing routine. Even if you gain only 200 words a day to your manuscript, you're farther up the road than you would have been.

You don't want to set goals so high, you're not going to reach them. Not saying I reach all of mine every day. Sometimes I only complete half; sometimes none, BUT most times I do have favorable success with this list.

I do recommend you consider using something similar! I think you'll find it helpful!

Serious Wednesday: True or False: Becoming a Writer...

True or False:  Being a writer is lots of fun!

True! It is.

Seeing the progress you make on your document or novel,

  • seeing your piece published in a magazine or newsletter...
  • or holding your book in your hand...
  • and reading the readers' interest/love/emotion in their comments and reviews are satisfying and encouraging.

But, wait! It's also false! Because?

  • It's hard work to become an accomplished and successful author
  • You'll reach plateaus where you think you'll never get off of
  • Cruel or supposedly helpful remarks and critiques will discourage you
  • You'll learn you have to grow a tough skin
  • You have to do a lot of research
  • You'll have to edit...edit...edit...and edit some more.
  • Publishers will reject your work.

But eventually, if you're determined enough and work hard enough, follow solid advice and do all you can to make a dream become reality, you'll see results.

And all the work won't matter anymore...
At least until you begin another article or book.
But it's all worth it when you type those words: THE END!

Keep Writing!

Too Good to Pass Up

I love these admonitions I post every now and then. These are especially good. Enjoy and follow!

1.) Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the ultimate antidepressant.

2.) Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Buy a lock if necessary.

3.) When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to________ today.'

4.) Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.

5.) Spend more time with family, play more games and read more books than you did last year.

6.) Always pray and make time to exercise.

7.) Spend more time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.

8.) Dream more while you are awake.

9.) Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat fewer foods that are manufactured in plants.

10.) Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli, almonds & walnuts.

11.) Try to make at least three people smile each day.

12.) Clear your clutter from your house, your car, your desk and let new and flowing energy into your life.

13.) Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead, invest your energy in the positive present moment.

14.) Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class ........but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

15.) Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.

Well, what do you think? Good, huh?

Remedies . . . Tried? True?

Who knows? But does it hurt to try?

SKIN INFECTIONS:
Applying honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts on the affected parts cures eczema, ringworm and all types of skin infections.

WEIGHT LOSS:
Daily in the morning one half hour before breakfast on an empty stomach and at night before sleeping, drink honey and cinnamon powder boiled in one cup of water. If taken regularly, it reduces the weight of even the most obese person. Also, drinking this mixture regularly does not allow the fat to accumulate in the body even though the person may eat a high calorie diet.

CANCER:
Recent research in Japan and Australia has revealed that advanced cancer of the stomach and bones have been cured successfully. Patients suffering from these kinds of cancer should daily take one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder for one month three times a day.

FATIGUE:
Recent studies have shown that the sugar content of honey is more helpful rather than! than being detrimental to the strength of the body. Senior citizens, who take honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts, are more alert and flexible. Dr. Milton, who has done research, says that a half tablespoon of honey taken in a glass of water and sprinkled with cinnamon powder, taken daily after brushing and in the afternoon at about 3:00 P.M. when the vitality of the body starts to decrease, increases the vitality of the bo dy within a week.

BAD BREATH:
People of South America, first thing in the morning, gargle with one teaspoon of honey and cinnamon powder mixed in hot water, so their breath stays fresh throughout the day.

HEARING LOSS:
Daily morning and night honey and cinnamon powder, taken in equal parts restore hearing.

I'm making my own personal copy of these remedies. I always like to believe the simple things are the best.

Who said the old timers didn't know everything? Hmmph! Now scientists are finding out differently.

GAS:
According to the studies done in India and Japan, it is revealed that if honey is taken with cinnamon powder the stomach is relieved of gas.

Take four spoons of honey, one spoon of cinnamon powder and three cups of water and boil to make like tea. Drink 1/4 cup, three to four times a day. It keeps the skin fresh and soft and arrests old age. Life spans also increases and even a 100 year old, starts performing the chores of a 20-year-old.

PIMPLES:
Three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder paste. Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it next morning with warm water. If done daily for two weeks, it removes pimples from the root.
