Rambling Friday: I Love to See Achievements

 I love my grandsons.

They mean the world to me.

So when I see them:

* Get a part-time job (they are students, after all) and work hard at it, I'm satisfied.

* Get honors when graduating, I'm proud!!

* Get accepted to extra classes because that's what he wants to do! I'm cheering for him.

* Get accepted into the college of his choice, I'm proud.

* Get student of the month, I'm thrilled.

* Get praised for success in hard things he succeeded in, I'm thrilled!

* Show manners, apologized, help an older person, go the extra mile to help, do the right thing, and so many other wonderful things that will make them good men, I praise God!

Are they angels? Of course not! But they try, and that's all any loving Grandmother can ask.

Love you, Blake, Wesley, and Jonathan, with all my heart!!!!

Rambling Friday: And That's Enough

God is love,
and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God,
and God in him.
I John 4:16b

I'm always looking for ways to show my love to my family and friends.
It not only gives them happiness and joy (I hope),
but it also gives me satisfaction and peace
to know I've again shown I love them.

So...
recently I saw this picture:

and decided immediately to do this for my youngest grandson's
class for Valentine's Day.

I wanted to make sure it would be okay with him (Jonathan).
I sent him the picture and asked if he'd like me to make these for his class.

He faced timed with me and emphatically declared,
YES!
I said, but what if some didn't like applesauce?
No, he assured me, everyone in his class liked applesauce.

Now, whether he really knows or not,
his enthusiasm gave me the answer.

This week I'm gathering the materials for this simple project
and plan on delivering the Valentine Applesauce cuties
to him when its time.

How I love that boy!

But even more so,
how God loves me.
A fumbling, mistake-making,
sometimes selfish, sometimes hesitant
sometimes asking forgiveness
person I am,
and...
God loves me.

And that's
 enough.

The Dog Days of Summer!

We're in the Dog Days of Summer.

Can't deny it.
We go through it every year.
It's a period that begins in late July through the early part of September.
Does it have anything to do with Dogs?
Not really.

It refers to the dog star--Sirius--and it's position in the heavens.

So what's a person suppose to do when it's hot, hot, hot?
The energy is sapped from your body?
The kids have been trotting off to school all week long!

Here's my thoughts:

1.  Be thankful you have another day of life -- hot or not.
2.  Stay cool by using cooling units, rest a lot, drink lots of water, eat lighter meals.
3.  As much as possible, do the outside chores or your work early in the morning or later in the evening.
4. Plan activities to suit the weather.
Swimming, water sprinklers, and indoor activities are better during the hotter parts of the day.
5.  Take advantage of the cooler days to do the things you've put off.
6.  Enjoy the summer.
Don't let it go to waste.
Just work with the weather.
Be smart.

Through the rest of summer, have fun, stay smart, and enjoy life!

Blessings!
