Sunday Morning Sunshine: You're Going to Fast, Mrs...

You're going too fast, Mrs. Summer.

I know, I know. It's been a hot summer at times. The storms, fires, and weather, in period, have been disrupted and at times, rugged and hard.

But I still insist, summer's going too fast. It's August! School has already edged it's way into our last bit of summer. Vacations are mostly over, although being empty-nesters, we can travel whenever we want. We're now staring Autumn, THEN winter in the face. And it's not my favorite season, so...

You're going too fast, Mrs. Summer.

I love our summer hikes and cave tours. The picnics and 4th of July fireworks. The beach and golf cart rides at night at the resort. Camping and travel. Discovering new places we love. The warmth. The cook outs. Smores. Roasted hotdogs. Corn on the cob. Fresh greenbeans. Occasional canning. And more.

So...slow down, Summer.

You're going way too fast!

What Did I Do With My Summer?

What Have I Done With My Summer?

misThat is the question, is it not for all of us?

"The Joy of Harvest" from Isaiah
  • Vacations: besides the fun and joy of being with family, did I do what I could to encourage my loved ones toward godliness? Did I lift up their spirits? Did I speak words of kindness rather than criticism? Did I show appreciation for the glorious scenery, the wonder of their smiles and the good times?

  • Church Camps: Did I do my part in celebrating the spirit of revival in hearts? Did I take the time to speak to those fighting trials and disheartening times? Did I enthusiastically participate in events to encourage others to do the same?

  • Home Life: Did I keep up with devotions? Did I ask for help when needed, whether from my God or from others who were willing to do so? Did I accomplish what I planned on doing throughout these weeks? Have I grown spiritually, mentally, and even physically (by keeping up with the right training and eating for me?

  • Ministry Work: Whether in weekly church services and/or events such as Vacation Bible School, etc., or special services of music or ministry, did I volunteer willingly? Did I put my all into the work, or begrudgingly complain that I was too busy; why couldn't someone else do something? Was my heart totally lifted up to HIM in obedience?

Can I say positively "yes" to all these questions (and more)? Probably not. Have I learned lessons I needed through these past three months that have taught me to be more willing, less out-spoken, more encouraging, etc? I hope so.

Whether we had a busy, constantly on-the-go summer or quiet, relaxing times alone, we need to be vigilant in keeping ourselves ready and obedient to harvest what God has for us.

And it's never too late! :)  Autumn is coming--the time of reaping. Let us look forward to good times ahead.

Abundant blessings!

Dreamin' On

Got to thinking tonight (watch it! I saw that smirk!). What if you could have your dream vacation with whoever and wherever and whatever you want with you.

What would it be?

Islands?
Mountains?
Desert?
Home?

Not positive sure where I'd want to go, but here's some things I'd like there:

rocks
trees
plants
flowers

Cool breezes
Mostly sun, occasional rain with rainbow--gotta have some rainbows. Not too much lightning or thunder.

My pets
Family (well, most of the time!!)
friends (a few at a time, please. Can't handle all of you at once!)

Sometimes just hubby and me.

Nights out, riding, eating out, sitting and watching the stars and moon, talking, laughter, silence

Good books, including my Bible

Good food
Good water

My computer. Couldn't leave without that. Why, what if I got some good plots and thoughts to type?

Oh, yeah. (Blush here) I guess I'll have to have my cell phone.
No arguments now, I've got a good reason . . . what if my agent calls with "the call?"

You wouldn't want me to miss that on the dream vacation of my life, would you?

Happy dreams, folks.
