Sunday Morning Sunshine: All Good Things are God's!

All God's Things are Good!

When God made the trees, animals and birds,

He said they were very good.

The vine is for grapes.

The wheat is for bread.

The bee to give us honey.

The sheep gives us wool.

Even the cat is good to catch mice.

All God's things are Good!! !

And God saw everything that he had made,

and behold, it was very good!

Rambling Friday: Pondering Your Blessings

As usual, November turns our attention to the blessings in our lives.

For myself, I'm ALWAYS thankful for my wonderful hubby and family, but today I want to focus on other things that have stood out to me recently. Below I list three important avenues I'm trying to take advantage of, to the best I can.

  1. Biblical truth that has spoken to me recently, either helping me understand some things I have previously been confused about or that have helped me draw closer to God, to trust him more fully and/or to learn to have confidence in his Word.
  2. Recognize that we've had a wonderful life in spite of hardships, problems, and other troubling situations. But God has gotten us through each thing and helped us to keep a positive attitude.
  3. Work and live like today is my last day on earth! We're not promised tomorrow, so I want to take advantage of every day, every hour I have to influence and encourage others to the best of my ability.
If I can accomplish these three things I will feel rewarded and that I've done all I can do.
What blessings have influenced your life, that may have changed you this year?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Tthat's Gratitude!

And whatsoever you do, do it heartily,
as to the Lord, and not unto men.
Colossians 3:23

It's Thanksgiving week so I'm going to be good. Extra nice:

  • I see that person with one or two items in her cart at the the checkout counter. I've got fifteen items. I'm going to let her go before me. She might be in a hurry. Why would I think that? The way she's shifting from foot to foot is a clue.
But then she doesn't thank me, not even a smile.

  • Someone in a classy car is tailgating me. Okay, I'll pull over, or, at least, slow down so he can pass. What do I get? Rude gestures and mouth communications telling me what he thinks of my driving.
Am I that bad? Speed limit isn't cool anymore? Can't smile--he'll think I'm taunting him. Just slow down more, and let him go his way. I'm helping him, and he doesn't know it.

  • I wait patiently in line at the service desk of a popular department store (even though there's twenty people in the line, and only one clerk working).  When I'm finally waiting on, the clerk makes my day by asking, "What do you want?"
"Well, duh. What do you think? Help."  That's what runs through my mind. Instead, when I leave, I give her a big smile.

Not such a great day.

But then...

I get a thank you card in the mail for something I've done.
Someone smiles when I open the door for them.
A greeter at a store calls out, "Have a great day!"
My husband calls to invite me out for supper that evening.
A friend calls to tell me they're thinking and praying for me.
I get a good critique back from a person who saw my efforts.
My grandson sends me a drawing he drew of me. :)

Sigh. Gratitude. You gotta love it!

Blessings!

My "To-Do" List Today

Sick last week, just about all I did was sleep, take medicine and moan and groan.

Seriously.

So it's safe to say I accomplished little, if anything during that period.

But I'm feeling better this week, and it's time to get to work again.

What's on my to-do list this week?

  • Water plants.

  • Set a few of the lighter ones outside on the porch for light and fresh air.
  • Get dishes out of sink (yeah, I know!)

  • Reorganize kitchen just a little
  • prepare and hem two dresses, one which will be my Easter dress for Sunday.
  • work on blogs
  • get through my mountain of emails
  • work on my novel

  • send out some checks
  • prepare easy meals this week
  • pack bags for a few days away w/hubby and Son #2 and his family

  • Finish buying items for Easter baskets for Blake and Wesley and Sunday School children

  • Organize my scrapbooking material--again.
  • Shop for necessary items.
  • Enjoy some "downtime" w/family
  • Contemplate working in garden...hmmm. Maybe. :)

Not too hard to do, right? Some of it has already been checked off; others will be finished shortly, but most will be completed, seeing as it needs done THIS week. Lol.

What's on your "to-do" list? Will you get it finished this week?

Happy Easter!

No Time to Brag

From Mongolian folklore comes this helpful little fable of the boastful frog:

Two geese were about to start sothward on their annual autumn migration, when they were entreated by a frog to take him with them. On the geese expressing their willingness to do so if a means of conveyance could be devised, the frog produced a long stalk of grass, got the two geese to take it one by each end, while he clung to it by his mouth in the middle. In this manner the three were making their journey when they were noticed from below by some men.

The men loudly expressed their admiration for the device and wondered who had been clever enough to discover it. Whereupon the vainglorious frog opened his mouth to say, "It was I," lost his hold, fell to the earth, and was dashed to pieces.

Moral? When you have a good thing going, keep your mouth shut!

Blessings!

Living a Long Life

There's a talk program that I listen to now and then. Today the woman listed four things that show you'll live a long life. See what you think. Here they are:

  1. Skip soda. (I guess the caramel color and the sugar is bad for you. Increases a metabolic syndrome that could cause diabetes or heart disease.)
  2. Strong legs. (exercise them! This will keep you moving as you age.)
  3. Your mother had you at an early age. (Yeah, as if we had a choice!)
  4. Eat and drink purple things, like Concord grapes and juice, blueberries.

So there you have it. If you can fit your life to these, it's suppose to be a pretty good predictor that you will live to be a hundred. (We can all checkon each other when we get to that age!)

Happy living!
