Sunday Morning Sunshine: Beautiful Words

Someone has written these beautiful words. They are like the Ten Commandments.

1. Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble; it is a "steering wheel" that directs us in the right path throughout life.

2. Do you know why a car's WINDSHIELD is so large; the rear view mirror is so small? Because our PAST is not as important as our FUTURE. So, look ahead and move on.

3. Friendship is like a BOOK. It takes few seconds to burn, but it takes years to write.

4. All things in life are temporary. If going well enjoy it, they will not last forever. If going wrong don't worry, they can't last long either.

5. Old friends are like Gold! New friends are Diamonds! If you get a Diamond, don't forget the Gold, because to hold a Diamond, you always need a base of Gold!

6. Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, GOD smiles from above and says, "Relax sweetheart, it's just a bend, not the end!

7. When GOD solves your problems, you have faith in HIS abilities. When GOD doesn't solve your problems, HE has faith in your abilities.

8. A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything worse than losing eyesight?" He replied: "Yes, losing your vision."

9. When you pray for others God listens to you and blesses them; and sometimes when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you.

10. WORRYING does not take away tomorrow's TROUBLES, it takes away today's PEACE.

Happy November blessings to you all!

Serious Wednesdays: Life and Death

Why is it that sometimes there's someone who passes through our lives--just for a moment, a week, a month, maybe longer, who affect us profoundly? Who touches our lives in such a way that we don't--can't--forget it or them?

That's what Amanda's mother for me. Don't get me wrong; I didn't know the woman; hadn't met her yet. That's right I didn't know her, yet I did. In the last few days, I heard more about her than possibly I would have learned had we had a chance to talk. Maybe.

How did she affect me? I've thought about this and realize it's not been something I've necessarily wanted, yet the details of her life, her death, her influence on so many in the community, it's all impressed me whether I desired this touch on my life or not.

  • She's made me want to be a better person. Less complaining, more generous, more loving . . .
  • In spite of her physical problems, she put others first. I don't want to ever live selfishly.
  • She made me aware--again--or my own mortality. And of those around me.
  • She's made me want to be friendlier. She loved everyone. She never met a stranger. She remembered those she met, even if just for a moment. I want to be like that. Or at least strive for it.
  • Her death reminded me what I've missed; what I'll never get a chance to experience.
  • She's helped me more than ever to appreciate each day that God gives me.
There's more. Much more. But that's enough.
Thanks, dear woman I never knew, wonderful person, who in our eyes (those who knew her and those of us who didn't) should have lived much longer, but who in God's eyes was wanted in heaven. We'll miss you.

Blessings!

Rambling Friday: Everyone Wants to be Loved

Everyone Wants to be Loved

I think.

Here are a few suggestions on how to accomplish that:
  • Don't contradict people, even if you're sure you're right.
  • Don't be inquisitive about the affairs of even your most intimate friends.
  • Don't underrate anything because you don't possess it.
  • Don't believe that everybody else in the world is happier than you.
  • Don't conclude that you have never had any opportunities in life.
  • Don't be rude to your inferiors in social position.
  • Don't repeat gossip, even if it does interest a crowd.
  • Learn to hide your aches and pains under a pleasant smile. Few care whether you have an earache, headache, or rheumatism.
  • Learn to attend to your own business.
  • Don't try to be anything else but a gentleman or woman, and that means one who has consideration for the whole world, and whose life is governed by the Golden rule, "Do unto others as you would be done by."

Do not fear to step where God leads.

Serious Wednesdays: A Crash Course in the Bible by Larry Vaughn

I'm happy to introduce a new writer friend today for Serious Wednesdays: Larry Vaughn. Please read on about his journey toward healing. I think you'll appreciate it!!

My name is Larry Vaughn and I'm a Vietnam veteran. I thought I was one of the lucky ones who got away scot-free. But apparently, nobody who goes to war ever gets away scot-free. I had a good job,  a wonderful wife, and three lovely daughters. But I was in a bad mood most of the time. And then, one day I reached the point where I could no longer control my emotions.

My Doctors told me I had Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder. They took me off work and I never went back to my job as a Letter Carrier. I applied for a medical retirement. But the Postal Service took a year to process it. And during that time, we had no income. This was rock-bottom for me. I was broke. I was too sick to work  And I didn't know if I would ever be able to work again.

So I cried out to God in desperation and asked him to help me. And I started spending hours each day reading the Bible. I didn't know what I was doing at that time. But I was fellowshipping with God in his word. While I was getting to know the Lord, he was teaching me things that I needed to know. One of those things was how to cope with PTSD.

I've spent the last twenty years mining the Bible for life-lessons. And every time I saw a Bible verse that jumped out at me, I copied it down and I added it to my collection. I'm very excited about the things that I've learned from the Bible. I  want to share it with everyone. And that's why I wrote A Crash Course in the Bible.

A Crash Course in the Bible is a summary of the Bible's most important teachings. And it contains essential Bible verses that everyone needs to know. If you study these Bible verses carefully and take them to heart, they will comfort you and give you peace. They will help you make it through difficult times and they will change your life forever.

A Crash Course in the Bible is available as an ebook and a paperback on Amazon and as an audiobook on Audible. If you have the audiobook version of it on your phone, then you can listen to the word of God whenever you want. You can even listen to it when you're in bed at night. And you'll be like the man who's described in  Psalm One:

"But his delight is in the law of the Lord;
and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
that bringeth forth his fruit in his season;
his leaf shall not wither and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."
(Psalm 1:2-3)
