Rambling Friday: When Troubles Come...

When troubles come, what do we do?  

Complain?

Put on a grouch?

Question why does it have to be ME?

Put on a martyr'd face?

*  We had to put off Christmas celebration because of circumstances, till January. BUT it turned out just fine. Relaxed and fun.

*   Hubby and I both got a serious case of covid (in spite of all precautions) in February and March. BUT, you know what? It drew me closer than ever to God. He loves us so much, and I trust in Him!!

* In late Spring hubby lost a beloved brother suddenly and unexpectedly. We were heartbroken and sad, but God gave hubby the strength to speak at his funeral. He comforted us when we needed it although we surely didn't understand the why.

* We lost close friends from our church who felt it was time for them to move on. Sad.

* Hubby and a son have been way too busy trying to complete some jobs they took on. WHICH means, they had little to no time to complete some landscaping and repairs needed on our property. Sigh. 

* Hubby had a bad case of kidney stones, and I've been going through another serious physical problem.

OR...

Can we, do we look heavenward and claim the Biblical verse:

The Lord is good, 

a strong hold in the day of trouble; 

and he knows them that trust in him.

Nahum 1:7

God has given strength to face each and every battle that has come our way this year of 2022. 

Because, sure as we are breathing (right now!), God knows our problems, our very being, and He will honor His word. He cares about us and whatever befalls us, He will see us through each and everything that comes. He is our anchor! 

What a wonderful God!

Sunday Morning Sunshine: Revival

 When Do We Need a Revival? 

It is very evident that we need a revival:

When it is easier to stay at home than to go to church.

When it is easier to work than to worship.

When it is easier to be critical than kind.

When it is easier to read fiction than the Bible.

Then it is easier to shirk God-given opportunity than to do it.

When it is easier to support the club than the church.

When it is easier to sleep in church than stay awake.

When it is easier to grumble than to praise.

When it is easier to condemn souls than to pray for their salvation.

when it is easier to hold grudges than to forgive. 

Amen?

Amen!

Rambling Friday: God's Help

 What Do You Do?

When you've already gone through the worst

illness you've ever experienced?

When you're doing so good physically...

(after all, that's what the doctors say, 

what your therapists say)...

and then you find out you have 

another problem. 

When you feel as if the kind doctors

act delighted that they have ANOTHER

patient to dissect

(mentally, physically, or however)

What does a person do?

Why...turn to God's word.

Here's what I read

just when I needed it:

"...for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee,

saith the Lord." 

What a promise!

What precious words from God!

How wonderful that we can claim God's promises!

I will praise Him!

Rambling Friday: Merry Christmas!

From Luke 2:10-13 says:

 And the angel said unto them, Fear not:

for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy,

which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David

a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

And suddenly...a multitude of the heavenly host

praised God, saying...

Glory to God in the highest,

and on earth,

peace,

good will

toward men.

Rambling Friday: It's Too Hot? No! It's Too Cold!

I don't like the weather too cold (or maybe I should say, not very cold at all). But then when the temp heads toward the eighties, nineties, or higher, then I'm not crazy about that either. Especially if you live, as I do, where the humidity likes to climb high! 

I normally try hard to not complain. I'm so thankful and grateful for so many things in life, and another day to live is one of them. 

I find the words in 1 Timothy 6:6-12 to be an admonition and encouragement: 

But godliness with contentment is great gain. 

For we brought nothing into the world, 

and we can take nothing out of it. 

But if we have food and clothing, 

we will be content with that.

What do I learn from this scripture?

• If I'm godly and contented I will have gained a LOT!
• I brought nothing into this world, and I'll take nothing out of it!
• I should be content with such as I have, whether small or great!

For actually, I do have a lot:  God, family, and friends. A career I love, memories and adventures
with my family through the years, almost anything one could desire...

Why should I complain?

My name is Larry Vaughn and I'm a Vietnam veteran. I thought I was one of the lucky ones who got away scot-free. But apparently, nobody who goes to war ever gets away scot-free. I had a good job,  a wonderful wife, and three lovely daughters. But I was in a bad mood most of the time. And then, one day I reached the point where I could no longer control my emotions.

My Doctors told me I had Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder. They took me off work and I never went back to my job as a Letter Carrier. I applied for a medical retirement. But the Postal Service took a year to process it. And during that time, we had no income. This was rock-bottom for me. I was broke. I was too sick to work  And I didn't know if I would ever be able to work again.

So I cried out to God in desperation and asked him to help me. And I started spending hours each day reading the Bible. I didn't know what I was doing at that time. But I was fellowshipping with God in his word. While I was getting to know the Lord, he was teaching me things that I needed to know. One of those things was how to cope with PTSD.

I've spent the last twenty years mining the Bible for life-lessons. And every time I saw a Bible verse that jumped out at me, I copied it down and I added it to my collection. I'm very excited about the things that I've learned from the Bible. I  want to share it with everyone. And that's why I wrote A Crash Course in the Bible.
