Sunday Morning Sunshine: Be as Wise Men

Be as Wise Men.

Lo, when the Wise men saw the star in the east, which went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy....

Jesus is our star. He's our Savior, our leader, our comforter, our all. He is the ultimate guide who will never lead us wrong but safely, loving, carefully guide us in all things of our lives.

Be wise.

Be happy.

Be at peace.

Follow the star!

Rambling Friday: It's Too Hot? No! It's Too Cold!

I don't like the weather too cold (or maybe I should say, not very cold at all). But then when the temp heads toward the eighties, nineties, or higher, then I'm not crazy about that either. Especially if you live, as I do, where the humidity likes to climb high!

I normally try hard to not complain. I'm so thankful and grateful for so many things in life, and another day to live is one of them.

I find the words in 1 Timothy 6:6-12 to be an admonition and encouragement:

But godliness with contentment is great gain.

For we brought nothing into the world,

and we can take nothing out of it.

But if we have food and clothing,

we will be content with that.

What do I learn from this scripture?

  • If I'm godly and contented I will have gained a LOT!
  • I brought nothing into this world, and I'll take nothing out of it!
  • I should be content with such as I have, whether small or great!
For actually, I do have a lot:  God, family, and friends. A career I love, memories and adventures
with my family through the years, almost anything one could desire...

Why should I complain?

Sunday Morning Sunshine: In Times of...

In Times of...

Storms. Turn to the scriptures:
Isaiah 23:4:  For you have been a refuge from the storm when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

Fear. Turn to the scriptures:
Psalm 91: 2:  I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God; in his will I trust.

Evilness around us. Turn to the Scriptures:
Psalm 91:10:  There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come night thy dwelling.

Confusion:  Turn to the Scriptures:
I Corinthians 14:33:  For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.

Doubt. Turn to the Scriptures:
Isaiah 41:10:  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Sickness. Turn to the scriptures:
Jeremiah 33:6:  Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.

Needs. Turn to the Scriptures:
Philippines 4:19:  And my God shall supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory.

Success. Turn to the Scriptures:
Proverbs 16:3:  Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

Sunday Morning Sunshine: My Love is Not Shaken

Though the mountains be shaken
and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you
will not be shaken,
nor my covenant of peace
be removed.
--saith God of Heaven
Isaiah 54:10

Trust in the Lord!

Sunday Morning Peace: New Beginnings!

Remember not the former things,
neither consider things of the old.

Behold, I will do a new thing;
now it shall spring forth;
shall you not know it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43: 18 & 19

Shall not God lead us in the way we should go?
Don't look back.
Always forward, with eyes fixed on the goal God has given us.
It may be a surprise: a new thing,
but surely God will give it.
a way through the doubts and fears,
and blessings (not a RIVER but RIVERS)!

Looking ahead...

Sunday Sunshine: A Favorite Scripture

Let not your heart be troubled;
you believe in God,
 believe also in me.

In my Father's house are many mansions;
if it were not so, I would have told you.

And if I go to prepare a place for you,
I will come again,
and receive you unto myself;
that where I am,
there you may be also.

St. John 14: 13

Assurance.
Confidence.
Love.

We can rest on those words.

Sunday Sunshine: Promises

For God said:

Call upon me in the day of trouble,
and I will deliver you.
--Psalm 50:15

They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength,
they shall mount up with wings as eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.
--Isaiah 40:31

His mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning:
great is thy faithfulness.
--Lamentations 3:22, 23

Ask, and it will be given to you:
seek, and you will find;
knock, and the door will be opened to you.
--Matthew 7:7

I am with you always.
--Matthew 28:20

Never will I leave you.
never will I forsake you.
--Hebrews 13:5

His words never  fail!
His words forever remain true.

Blessings!

Sunday Sunshine: Plans for 2019?

What are your plans for 2019?

Work harder?
Save more?
Gain a promotion?
Increase your income?

All good resolutions.

But what about...
Reaching out to those less fortunate?

Will you...
Seek the lost for Jesus' sake?

Can you strive to...
become more holy?

Will you...
be kinder,
grow stronger,
seek peace,
love more?

These are the things that are important.

Happy New Year!

Sunday Sunshine: October Harvest

October is a month of Harvest.

As a reminder, let's reflect on these scriptures:

"The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few."  --Matthew 9:37
Let us remember to work for God's kingdom.
Be examples.
Share God's love by actions and word.
Forgive.
Love.
Be kind.

"Say not, There are four months then comes the harvest.
Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes and look onto the fields,
for they are white already unto harvest."  --John 4:35
Don't be deaf and dumb to God's call to share the gospel in
the way he wills for you to do.
Realize that the time of reaping
(sharing God's word)
is now.
Not tomorrow.

"Let us not be weary in well-doing,
for we shall reap if we faint now."  --Galatians 6:9
Cast your cares upon him who is forever strong and enduring.
Don't faint with your good works or be discouraged.
God does not judge us for what we've accomplished,
but how hard we've tried.

How can YOU improve your service for God?

Abundant Blessings!

Rambling Fridays: Give It Up for Friends!

The Bible declares that Jesus is a friend
that is closer to us than a brother (or sister...)

“Don’t walk in front of me… I may not follow
Don’t walk behind me… I may not lead
Walk beside me… just be my friend”

― Albert Camus

Ah, the friend who doesn't mind what the crowd says.
He's too interested in conversing with you!

**

“A friend is someone who knows all about you
and still loves you.”
― Elbert Hubbard

Now, that's real friendship.
Doesn't matter if you've argued.
Or if you disagree.
Or even dislikes you for a bit.
He/She still loves you just because
you're friends.

**

“It is not a lack of love,
but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche

When your partner in marriage is not only
a husband/wife, lover, hero, etc.
but also a friend,
then, my friend, you surely have a wonderful marriage!

**

"Rare as is true love, true friendship is rarer."
Jean de La Fontaine
As the Bible says, who has found a good woman
had found a good thing.
So it is with friendship.
True ones come far between and are few in number.
If you're fortunate enough to have gained one,
cherish that friendship.
You may never get another.

Happy weekend, my readers!

Sunday Morning Peace: Just that!

Let not your heart be troubled:
you believe in God,
believe also in me.
--said Jesus, in Saint John 14

Peace to you!

Sunday Morning Peace: A Poem

Daffodils

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd--
A host of golden daffodils
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle in the Milky Way,
they stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay;
Ten thousand saw I, at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they
Outdid the sparkling waves in glee;
A poet could not but be gay
In such a jocund company;
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
What wealth the show it me had brought.

For oft, when on my couch I lie,
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

--William Wordsworth

Sunday Morning Peace

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord
and to sing his praises . . .

to shew forth thy loving kindnesses in the morning
and thy faithfulness every night.

Psalm 92: 1 & 2

Sunday Morning Peace

And God saw that everything he had made,
and it was very good.  -- Genesis 1:31

No, not the evil we see today.
No not the sorrow
or trials
or hurts
and deaths.

But God created a beautiful world for mankind.
Let us be thankful for that today and
realize that all God made was good!

Blessings!

Sunday Morning Peace

He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High
shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty!
--Psalm 91:1

Wonderful words of comfort.
No terror by night
No threats by day
No snares from the enemy
Or pestilences.

God has us covered.
We can relax!

Blessings.
